Mark Homewood ‘s work in in the world of interior design has been many layered/multi facted/designing, developing and sourcing product from around the world and in a variety of aesthetic styles - contemporary, vintage, antique and new.

"Mark's is an honest approach to an old house, carefully attentive to its age, while not shying away from newer things."

- The World of Interiors

Gaulden Treasures is the culmination of his experience and creative expression. Melding a mixture of old and new, texture and a note of eccentricity – this new online gallery and store reflects Mark’s passion for “putting a room together”. Based from his home in the Somerset countryside between the Quantock and Brendon Hills and Exmoor National Park, Gaulden Treasures offers the opportunity to visit, shop for a project and stay.

Mark’s approach to decorating honours the historical perspective of each space; giving it authenticity and grounding the decoration to its roots before adding interest  and life in layers of  the contemporary and unexpected, reflecting the client’s taste and personality. He has restored a diverse selection of both historic and contemporary homes; breathing  new life and energy into each with his unerring taste that has been featured  in the interiors press.

“I buy and source items from around the world and the only proviso is that I fall for them. It is really that simple. I love the dialogue of old and new, the humour in the unexpected and the life that gives to a space.”

Gaulden Manor

Since the 12th century, there has been a settlement at Gaulden.

Once part of Taunton Priory; in 1539, it was surrendered to King Henry VIII during the Valor Ecclesiaisticus. In the 16th century under Queen Elizabeth I it became the home of James Turberville, the former Bishop of Exeter. It is thought to be the Bishop who added  what Country Life cited as the  ‘astonishing plaster decoration’ for which it is now renowned.

Available as a location, a place to stay and with treasures to discover and buy. Nestled among the rolling Somerset countryside, between the Brendon Hills and the Quantocks, this historic house and gardens is a living symbol of its unique past. Gaulden Manor is home to Mark Homewood and Michael Sharp.
